Stay the night in your own lodge with a view over Lake Manyara at the top of a hill. Because of this unique location you will experience a truly breathtaking views of Lake Manyara, the Maasai Steppes and the Rift Valley.
Lodge Lake Manyara
The land on which the lodges are built was purchased in the year 2005 from a Maasai named Liomol Kipailele, which is also your hiking guide when hiking to Lake Manyara.
Lake Manyara National Park is approximately 20 minutes drive from the lodge. Lake Manyara is a shallow salt lake and is therefore a popular location for groups of flamingos, which have the typical pink color of the food from the saltwater lake. Lake Manyara Lake is located at the foot of the western Rift Valley, a major crack in the earth. The largest part of the park is occupied by the lake.
Lake Manyara is situated on the route from Arusha to the Ngorongoro crater and the Serengeti National Park. At the entrance of Lake Manyara from the side of Mto wa Mbu, a former Maasai settlement, you will find a nice village with art stalls, then you go through a dense forest that gives the impression of a tropical rainforest. Underground rivers provide the water for the forest instead of local rain. Due to these underground rivers, the park has a lot of green vegetation despite the long dry periods.
Views from the lodge
The plot of land is more than 52 hectares, the place where the Lodge is built is on a rolling hill which gives a breathtaking view of Lake Manyara on the front and side.
History Lodge Lake Manyara
The land was purchased with the ultimate aim of building their own lodges. Unfortunately, this has taken much more time than originally planned. The reason for this was that the authorities initially refused to cooperate, so that receiving the necessary permits ultimately took seven years.
On December 1, 2013, after waiting 7 years, we were able to start building. Almost two years later, the construction was finally completed in July 2015 and delivered. On July 28, 2015, we finally welcomed our first guests. The necessary providers have all been constructed by ourselves. Think of the water supply to the septic tanks and electricity that is generated by solar panels. In case there is a power failure, an extra generator is available.
The lodges nowadays include a restaurant with bar and a swimming pool with jacuzzi. The lodges are spacious and each lodge has its own private bathroom with an outdoor shower and a large veranda from which our guests can enjoy the breathtaking views.
Wildlife
Due to the special location of our lodge near Lake Manyara, you can watch zebras, giraffes, impalas and other wildlife from the lodges. There is also a wide variety of birds to watch. During the night you can hear the hyenas crying!
Karibu sana!
You are welcome!
